If a claim was sent with an attachment that had incorrect or missing information (e.g., missing an x-ray or narrative):

  1. Take note of any narrative and any attached items and delete the original claim. Optionally, create a commlog to document why the original claim was deleted.
  2. Recreate the claim.
  3. Add all items (e.g., images, narrative, etc.) that need to be included with the claim, including those that were sent with the original claim.
  4. Send the new claim.

If a claim must be resent due to a missing attachment, do the following:

If insurance provided a reference ID number:

  1. Change the claim status to Waiting to Send.

  3. In the Misc Tab of the claim, add the Original Reference Number.
  4. Change the Correction Type to Replacement.
  5. Resend the claim using the Resend button
  6. Select The claim was accepted and I need to replace it with updated information when prompted.

If insurance did not provide a reference ID number.

  1. Change the claim status to Waiting to Send.
  2. Add the attachment to the original claim.
  3. Resend the claim using the Resend button.
  4. Select The claim has not been accepted yet and I need to resend it when prompted.

Troubleshooting

When choosing Snip Attachment for DentalXChange, I get an error that neither Snip & Sketch nor the Snipping Tool could be launched.

Windows Snip & Sketch or Snipping tool could not be launched from Open Dental. Use the Paste Attachment(s) for DentalXChange or Select Attachment for DentalXChange options instead.
