Patients scheduling an appointment via Web Sched Existing Patient may see the following screens, depending on office setup.

Not all screens are noted on this page. Patients may or may not see these screens depending on office setup and patient selection.
Web Sched Existing Patient can be opened on a new webpage, as shown below, or embedded onto the practice website.
Patient Info
Patients are required to input first name, last name, and date of birth. Email address and phone number are only used to sort duplicate patient accounts.

Things to consider:
- If the patient has Appointment scheduling is restricted enabled in Edit Patient Information window, they will not be able to schedule.
- Preferred names are allowed.
- If Allow Children is enabled in Web Sched Advanced setup, parents or legal guardians can enter the child's information to schedule. If Allow Children is not enabled, they are prompted to contact the office.
- If the patient is not found (e.g., a new patient) an error displays. These patients should use Web Sched New Patient instead.
Verify Identity
The patient must submit an authentication code to verify their identity and continue.

Things to consider:
- Authentication is required. The available authentication options depend if Email, Text, or both are selected in the Web Sched Advanced setup, Existing Patients Authentication field.
- The patient must have a phone number or email address entered in Open Dental. If only one field is entered, that is the field the authentication code is sent to.
Entering Insurance
If Web Sched Carrier Rules are enabled, the patient is prompted to enter insurance details.

Things to consider:
- If a carrier rule is marked as Blocked, the patient cannot continue scheduling their appointment online.
- Entered insurance information is added as a note to the appointment in Open Dental.
Appointment Reason
Appointment reasons are determined by Definitions: Web Sched Existing Appt Types created by the office.

Things to consider:
- Recall appointments (displayed as Teeth Cleaning by default) are only an option when the patient has a recall due date. When selected, the calendar automatically moves to the recall due date.
- Appointment reasons show as the Appointment Type selected for the scheduled appointment in Open Dental.
Date and Time
Patients can use the calendar to select an available date and time. Additionally, they can select a specific provider from the dropdown.

Things to consider:
- Provider biographies and pictures are entered in the Open Dental, Provider Edit window.
- Appointment details are confirmed by the patient before the appointment is officially booked.
- Once booked, a confirmation displays. Booked appointments create an Alert to notify staff an appointment has been scheduled.
- Optionally, the patient can be routed to a Web Form after booking the appointment.
- Users should run the Web Sched Appointments Report to view and track appointments scheduled using Web Sched.
