Do I need an IT Professional?
An IT professional is optional when installing the eConnector.
What do I need to do when I update Open Dental versions?
Always update Open Dental versions from the computer that hosts the eConnector. Stop the service before you update. See Stopping Open Dental Services. If you forget to stop the service, see General eServices Troubleshooting.
How do I disable a module I do not want my patients using in Patient Portal?
See Setting up the Patient Portal, Portal Features.
How do I allow my patients to start paying online through the Patient Portal?
See Online Patient Payments. You must be using XWeb as a CC processing service.
What can my patients see in the Patient Portal?
It depends on the features you have enabled during setup. To see an example of all options, see What Patients See in the Patient Portal.
The password for my patients use part of their SSN. How can I keep this from happening?
You can manually change a password when Granting Access to the Patient Portal. To automatically generate a more secure password, update to Version 17.4.9 where the SSN is no longer used.
What if a patient wants to opt out of text messages or email communication?
On the Edit Patient Information Window mark Text OK as No and remove the email address from the Email Addresses field.
