Open Dental Cloud Signup Process

Follow the steps below to sign up for Open Dental Cloud. The process is lengthy to ensure Open Dental Cloud is a good fit for the practice.

If your practice is considering Open Dental and you are currently using a different practice management system, you must first complete a Data Conversion.

Open Dental Cloud Signup Process

1. Contact Open Dental Support

   If interested in using Open Dental Cloud for your practice, start by contacting Open Dental Support. Our team will answer any questions you have and discuss the next steps.

2. Complete the Cloud Questionnaire

   After contacting Open Dental, our team will send an email with a link to the Open Dental Cloud Questionnaire.

3. Await a Follow-up From an Open Dental Cloud Coordinator

   Open Dental will reach out via phone or email after reviewing the submitted questionnaire. Our team will discuss any concerns, schedule the setup for a Test Environment, and email the Open Dental Cloud paperwork.

4. Access the Test Environment

   On the scheduled date, an Open Dental Cloud Coordinator will provide your practice access to a test environment.

   • New customers to Open Dental will be provided a Test Environment with fake patient data to review Open Dental Cloud.
   • Existing Open Dental customers can utilize a Test Environment or complete a Test Migration with their database. If opting for the Test Migration, a non-refundable Migration Fee is due at the time of the migration.
5. Review the Test Environment or Test Migration

   Spend some time reviewing the environment you chose for your practice. Make sure Open Dental Cloud will work for your practice flow.

6. Schedule a Final Migration

   Contact Open Dental Support to schedule a Final Migration. At the time of scheduling, we will take payment for Open Dental Cloud fees. If you opted out of a Test Migration, the non-refundable Migration Fee is due at this time.

7. Access the Final Migration

   On the date of the Final Migration, Open Dental migrate your data and will provide access to your live Open Dental Cloud database.

8. Post-Migration Review

   An Open Dental Cloud coordinator will review the Final Migration. This is typically done immediately after the Final Migration but may be scheduled the next business day if the Migration happened in the late afternoon.

9. Post Migration Follow-up

   A day or two after the Final Migration, an Open Dental Cloud Coordinator will reach out one final time a to ensure everything is operating smoothly for your practice.
