Uninstalling Open Dental can be useful when removing an old computer from your office.

Uninstalling Open Dental on a workstation

Only the Open Dental program needs removed from a workstation.

  1. In the Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
  2. Highlight OpenDental from the list.
  3. Click Uninstall.
  4. Follow the prompts.

Uninstalling Open Dental on a Server

If removing Open Dental from a server, first consider making Backups or performing a Server Migration.

If applicable, uninstall any services (see below).

Uninstall the Open Dental program by following the steps above as you would a workstation.

Uninstall the MySQL service.

  1. In the Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
  2. Highlight MySQL from the list.
  3. Click Uninstall.
  4. Follow any prompts.

Occasionally, MySQL does not list in Programs and Features. It can instead be permanently disabled.

  1. In Services, highlight the MySQL service.
  2. Right click and select Properties.
  3. In the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled.

Uninstalling any Services

Some services may have been installed for use with Open Dental on your server. Services can be uninstalled using the Service Manager.

Possible services include the eConnector and the Open Dental Service. These services should be uninstalled prior to uninstalling the Open Dental program.

  1. In the Open Dental installation folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Open Dental), double-click the ServiceManager.
  2. Double-click a service from the list.
  3. Click Uninstall.
